Delta Boogie Newsletter-Gamerplus News - February 2025 - Update To Delta Boogie, Three Jazz Bands, 10 Years Of The Gamer's Guild

I had to do an update to my Something Blue website which involved a database upgrade and a new version of php. That broke Delta Boogie.
Every cloud has a silver lining and I decided to use this as an opportunity to move Delta Boogie into the 21st century and make it available on phones. I am also turning Delta Boogie into a plain text program, using text files to replace the database. I've been working on it.
And I'm getting there. It's one of those jobs where the more you work on it the longer your todo list grows. With the functionality of the website restored I'm now in the process of making it better.

I am now recording three jazz bands, Bebop Beatniks, Jazz Buskers, and The United Gospel Trio.
The Bebop Beatniks lineup is Paul Lessard, alto; Jeremy Jackson, bass; Alex Washam, drums; and Hairy Larry, piano and vocals. So, a jazz quartet doing mostly originals and some cover songs.

Jazz Buskers are Danielle Russell, vocals and percussion; Eliecer Tamez, vocals and trumpet; and Hairy Larry, vocals and piano. So a vocals jazz ensemble doing mostly covers and some originals.

The United Gospel Trio is my church band. I attend the Brookland United Methodist Church where I am the music director and I help with the food pantry and the youth program. Our pianist, Jackie Chandler, is on organ; Chris Cherlock, bass; I'm on piano, and Evan is the worship leader. We all sing. I call it jazz from the hymnal. We've been working on "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace" and I have a list of spirituals and even modern pieces to add.
