Kingsborough’s mission, then, was not merely to raise awareness of these texts, but to ensure that the prospective student of Mexican pictorial manuscripts could view the Codex Añute (1556) and the Codex Borgia (late fifteenth to early sixteenth century) in one sitting, without needing to trek from England all the way to the Vatican.

The Public Domain Review

In 1920, at the tender age of 19, Chicago-born artist Virginia Frances Sterrett received her first commission from The Penn Publishing Company to illustrate Old French Fairy Tales — a collection of works from the nineteenth-century French author, Comtesse de Ségur (Sophie Fedorovna Rostopchine). Shortly after completing the work Sterrett was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She would manage a few other commissions, including illustrations for Nathaniel Hawthorne's Tanglewood Tales the following year, and for a 1928 edition of Arabian Nights, but her failing health meant she could only work in short bursts. She eventually passed away in 1931, at the age of 30.

The Hare ... Tom Seidmann-Freud

The Hare Who Laughed Until His Lip Burst

Illustration by Tom Seidmann-Freud from her Buch Der Hasengeschichten (1924), a selection of folk and fairy tales collected from across the globe, chosen for their leporine heroes. Born in Vienna, Tom (née Martha) Seidmann-Freud (1892–1930) was the daughter of Maria Freud, Sigmund’s sister. Around the age of fifteen, she assumed the name Tom — preferring its masculine tone — and moved abroad to study art in London and Berlin, finally settling in Munich. Vivian's Quest - The Kendrick Campaign - May 23, 2024

Ranger Bob From Page 74

Vivian ran a family game in the nineties which ended with a focus on the NPC arch wizard, Kendrick, who got stuck in all of our minds. This is her DM book for that campaign which includes contributions from all of us.

All of the players in that game now run family games and games at game days and conventions. I think she taught us all how to do it.

Love what you do with the Joni Mitchell songs. Are you playing a Wurlitzer on The Hissing Of Summer Lawns?

I invented a new recipe.

Chicken enchilada omelets.

I used rotel and chicken but a jalapeno salsa would be even better.

Still quite delicious and with red pepper flakes in my oil and tony's on the chicken,...
