Sandboxing Milyagon/Tobbins Shire Just Quest games How I have become inspired to DM in our Milyagon locale in even more of a sandbox style. These sandbox game blogs are really helping me define how I want to go forward in my Milyagon/Tobbins Shire sandbox. https://archstonepress.com/2023/08/playing-in-the-sandbox/ https://dice.camp/@Poljack/110856663853932566 https://cannibalhalflinggaming.com/2021/10/27/meet-the-campaign-intro-to-west-marches/ Taking off from my first Tobbins Shire campaign, "The Story Of Mister Mistmeister And His Many Transformations". https://hairylarryland.com/milyagon/ I foresee: 1. Instead of prep - dice tables (so the prep is in locating or writing the dice tables) 2. DM posted session notes written the day of the game or the day after the game. I will also want a notebook at the table to get name spellings, etc. correct. 3. Just one party with drop in drop out from session to session or during a session. If someone walks in and wants to play, fine. If someone needs to leave, fine. 4. After the story develops and the opportunity occurs tie a knot in it and write it up as a narrative based on the session notes but edited to favor the story. So it's annotated collaborative story telling in a sandbox with arc endings punctuating the campaign and the arcs edited into stand alone stories. My DM PC, Caper the halfling bard, is definitely a sidekick during play but can help tie the knot at the end of the arc.
