Cover Your Friend's Songs

I was in a conversation about music sharing with @mirlo@musician.social on Mastodon and I wrote this.

There's another form of sharing I like to do.

Cover your friend's songs.

Most live shows are some covers and some originals. The covers are almost always hits and there's a reason for this. You love the song and your audience loves the song.

Covering your friend's songs works too. It gives you a chance to talk about your friend and explain why you love their work.

This engages the audience in a way that originals and covering hits doesn't.

Try it. It works.
